Butter Me Up!

November 11th, 2011 by Beautiful. Active. Nourished.

Are you looking for a simple snack idea; perhaps something to spread on your rice cake?

How about a nut butter? Peanut butter is the most ubiquitous nut butter in the supermarket, but did you know that nut butters can be made from other nuts and seeds?

You can even make them yourself, and they’re super-simple.

Simply blitz your chosen nuts in a food processor, until you reach the desired consistency. You can either blend them raw or roasted, and add a little salt, if you wish. Some nuts, such as Brazil nuts or hazelnuts, may need a splash of oil to help them to form a paste. Others, like almonds and peanuts can be blended on their own.

Nut butters take seconds to make, and there is no better recipe than one which is home-made, with simple, natural ingredients!
